About
About Centre Algos
Centre Algos is a Swiss centre for integrative pain management, naturopathy and functional medicine, based in Fribourg.
Our approach goes beyond pain. We also support people experiencing persistent fatigue, digestive disorders, autoimmune conditions and other complex health concerns.
By combining clinical experience, personalised assessment and complementary therapeutic approaches, we aim to understand each person’s individual needs, support recovery and improve health, wellbeing and quality of life.
Our Clinical Philosophy
We believe that understanding the person is just as important as understanding their symptoms.
Whether someone comes to us with chronic pain, persistent fatigue, digestive difficulties or other complex health concerns, our approach begins with listening and looking at the broader picture.
Health is influenced by many interacting factors, including the nervous system, nutrition, metabolism, lifestyle and personal circumstances. Understanding these connections can help us identify relevant contributing factors and consider appropriate therapeutic options.
At Centre Algos, we combine clinical experience, naturopathy and functional medicine to offer thoughtful, personalised care. When appropriate, targeted biological investigations can complement our assessment.
Our aim is to support the body’s capacity for recovery, improve function and wellbeing, and help each person move towards a healthier, more fulfilling life.

Algos: Understanding Pain, Embracing Life
The name Algos comes from the ancient Greek word ἄλγος, meaning pain. In Greek mythology, the Algea personified physical and emotional suffering. This ancient root also lives on in modern medical language, in terms such as neuralgia and analgesia.
At Centre Algos, however, our name carries a profoundly positive meaning. It represents our belief that pain deserves to be heard, understood and addressed, and that every person deserves the opportunity to live a full and meaningful life.
Pain can affect far more than the body. It can influence our confidence, our independence, our relationships and the activities that bring us happiness. Yet we believe that pain does not have to define who we are or what our future can hold.
This belief is at the heart of our approach. By combining clinical experience, integrative therapies and personalised care, we seek to understand the factors contributing to each person's symptoms and support the body's capacity for recovery and healing.
Our ambition goes beyond relieving pain. We want to help people regain mobility, rediscover their strength, reconnect with the activities they love and look towards the future with renewed confidence.
Pain is not the end of the story. It is a signal inviting us to listen, understand and act. At Centre Algos, our purpose is to support healing, restore confidence and mobility, and help people rediscover the freedom and joy of living fully.

Meet Our Practitioner

Wilfried Beijersbergen
Naturopath in Traditional European Medicine (TEM) · Anaesthesia Nurse
My professional journey is guided by a commitment to understanding health, relieving suffering and helping people regain their quality of life.
My background as an anaesthesia nurse has taken me through operating theatres, recovery rooms, intensive care and pain-management settings. These experiences have given me a deep appreciation of the complexity of pain, the importance of clinical precision and the profound impact that health challenges can have on a person's life.
Over time, I became increasingly interested in understanding the wider factors that influence persistent symptoms and recovery. This led me to study Traditional European Medicine and naturopathy, expanding my clinical perspective to include nutrition, micronutrition, phytotherapy and integrative approaches to health.
Today, at Centre Algos, I bring these experiences together to offer a personalised approach that considers both immediate symptoms and the factors that may contribute to their persistence.
I believe that effective care begins with listening. Every person brings a unique history, individual needs and personal goals. My role is to understand that story, assess the available options and help build a thoughtful path towards relief, improved function and better health.
What motivates me most is seeing people regain confidence in their bodies, rediscover what they are capable of and return to the activities and experiences that bring meaning and joy to their lives.
